Leeds United have been linked with a host of players already with a new name emerging in Serbia's Petar Raktov
The transfer window has been open less than a week and already it's clear Leeds United are in for a summer where they're going to be linked with seemingly anyone in a certain price range. The immediate focus at the club is centred around potential outgoings and moving the likes of Marc Roca off the books, while finalising what is happening with Crysencio Summerville and the potential substantial cash injection his departure will bring.
That may be the case but it's the silly season and if you've got two legs and can run, you may find yourself linked with Leeds this summer. Heck, it may not even take that! And so on that note one rumour that appears to be gathering real momentum is that Leeds are closing in on RedBull Salzburg striker Petar Ratkov.
It's not the average return of five goals in 24 games in his first season at Salzburg that means this deal seems one unlikely to be going through anytime soon, or the fact he still has four years remaining on a five year contract only signed last summer, more the fact that as we stand here on June 19 with so much to resolve in terms of player departures and so much uncertainty regarding the future of a host of other players, signing a new striker would appear miles away from Leeds' list...
A lack of depth is not an issue in that area, unlike midfield and defence, and potentially on the wings depending on developments in the next few weeks. The Red Bull angle makes this an obvious link and one that could well hold some interest for the club, but don't expect to see Raktov paraded in a Leeds shirt anytime soon unlike some of the seemingly growing expectations which appear to have taken off since Leeds were earlier linked to the player.
