The summer transfer window closes at 11pm on September 1 and Leeds United have plenty of work to do
The summer transfer window is edging towards a dramatic climax at Elland Road. Leeds United have just 11 days to do their business before the window slams shut on September 1 and they know they have a lot of work to do.
But, as the failed move for Max Aarons showed, they have a limited amount of money to spend, in keeping with profit and sustainability rules, and they’re willing to use it to give Farke a few more options. It is thought a number of bids have been lodged, while the club see the loan market as a useful tool to add to their squad in a quick and cost-effective way.
Cameron Archer is one name who has been linked heavily over the last week or so after struggling for game time under Unai Emery at Villa Park. The striker has seen just five minutes of Premier League action so far and it seems he could be allowed to leave the club this summer. The Albanian has been linked to Leeds by Spanish outlet AS, with Brentford and Southampton also said to be keen. Given the report claims Granada are unwilling to sell and the player has a €25m release clause, though, that one looks a little harder to do.
They’ve taken an unwavering approach when it comes to Wilfried Gnonto, who handed in a transfer request late last week and is attracting interest from Everton and reportedly a number of Italian sides. Leeds released a statement earlier this month insisting that the Italian is not for sale and will not be sold and they’ll be keen to bring the messy situation to a conclusion sooner rather than later.
