“We are beyond grateful and humbled to receive this award for the Best of Manchester for 2023'
The best curry houses across the UK have been honoured at the 2023 English Curry Awards. The awards were handed out at the Holiday Inn in Birmingham City Centre last night, with a host of restaurants in the North West picking up gongs.
Indian and Nepalese restaurant The Original Third Eye on Wilmslow Road in Didsbury Village took home the Best of Manchester award beating the likes of Indian Tiffin Room, Kabana, Asha’s Restaurant, Delhi House Café, and Dhoom Dhaam.Mela Kumar, who runs the restaurant alongside her husband, chef Arun Kumar, told the Manchester Evening News: “We are beyond grateful and humbled to receive this award for the Best of Manchester for 2023.
First opened in 2000, The Original Third Eye is one of Didsbury Village’s longest-running restaurants. The menu is a true fusion of Indian, Nepalese and even some Chinese influences, with many dishes - including the legendary butter chicken - passed down through generations. Elsewhere, there’s specialities like the Nepalese chicken choyela, tandoori mackerel, and giant king prawns charred from the clay oven.
Award winners in the north west included Bombay 8 Indian Restaurant in Warrington, which picked up the award for Curry King or Queen; Aroma Asian Restaurant in Burnley, named best for customer experience; and Abdullah’s Restaurant in Accrington, which was crowned Curry Restaurant of the Year North West.
