The Selston Leisure Centre will partially reopen to the public later this year

A Nottinghamshire leisure will reopen later this year as work gets underway on a new four-court sports hall. The Selston Leisure Centre was previously run by Everyone Active before it was transferred in 2018 to the Two Counties Trust - the owner of the Selston High School campus which the leisure centre sits in.

The leisure centre is currently displayed online as being permanently closed, but Ashfield District Council has now announced the facility will partly reopen to the public later this year. Activities will be provided in the sports hall for public use on evenings and weekends. This will be ahead of Selston High School investing in a new four-court sports hall with studio space, which will be managed by an operator on behalf of the school at evenings and weekends. Works on this are due to start in 2027.

All the plans were approved by Ashfield District Council at a cabinet meeting on June 17. The authority also says it is working with Selston High School, the parish council, Selston Football Club and Notts FA on a funding application for a full-size 3G pitch in the area.
