Letter: 'I would hope that this major decision by [Rocky Mountain Power] would spur the state into assisting the great hard-working residents of [Carbon and Emery] counties and bring some new employers to the area.'
I understand the power company is being pushed by the federal government to stop using coal. My hope is that the interested parties are thinking about the loss of jobs in the power plants and the coal mines that supply them and the other supporting infrastructure that will be negatively affected.
It seems the Utah economic development agency has forgotten that just two hours from Salt Lake City lie Carbon and Emery counties, seemingly neglected by any business development assistance. There is one major employer in Price, started and fueled by a local resident. It is a great asset for the area.
There are also others but I would hope that this major decision by the power company would spur the state into assisting the great hard-working residents of the two counties and bring some new employers to the area.
