Johnson’s failure to even answer questions about crime in Chicago is a major issue for all of us who live here, of every race and in every neighborhood. Johnson should step up.So groups of armed robbers are running roughshod through our neighborhoods, and only one alderman, Scott Waguespack of the 32nd Ward, has the guts to call the mayor out on his continued inaction. The silence from the rest of the aldermen speaks volumes about the current administration’s stand on loyalty.
Mayor Brandon Johnson is notorious for blaming everyone but the offenders themselves. He told us that the violence and lootings by mobs in downtown Chicago are the result of disinvestment in communities on the West and South sides. He further lays blame for an increase in vehicle thefts not on the criminals but on Kia and Hyundai for making their cars easier to steal. He even had the audacity to have the city file a lawsuit against both automakers.
