Re: “As the Fairfield Park Issue Turns — State passed up cheap water of Fairfield Lake for plans to condemn private land, build new lake instead. How is this cost effective?” Sunday editorial.
The problem as I see it is not a lack of good ideas on how to eliminate divisiveness in America. It is the lack of political will to make things better. Many of our political leaders stoke divisiveness as a means to energize their base so they can get re-elected. They paint the opposition as evil and compromise as failure. They have an us-vs.-them mentality. They elevate nonissues like book bans, transgender athletes, school bathrooms and “wokeness” as issues that will ruin America.
I appreciate Zurawski’s sharing the deeply personal and tragic account of her experience in a situation which should never have happened. And I thank her and the other plaintiffs for bringing the Zurawski vs. Texas lawsuit. We need more than hope; we need citizens and lawmakers across the state and country to fight for the right of all women to make their own decisions regarding the care they need and deserve.Re: “Can you live on Social Security alone?” by Scott Burns, Sunday Business column.
For elderly who are able to live independently at home, the cost of medicine/medical care, dental care, vision care, etc., increases exponentially as one ages.
