— Re: “When it’s time to let the mic drop — Norm Hitzges ends his radio journey with years of superlatives, side gigs and memories,” June 22 news story.I thoroughly enjoyed reading the excellent story about one of my favorite people — Norm Hitzges. I have listened to his sage reporting for 44 years and found him to be incredibly informed, thorough and funny.
When he joined the whimsical Ticket, I wondered exactly how he would fit in. I cringed early on as they would rib him and feature him and “Andy Panda” in skits. Obviously the chemistry worked well, mainly because of Hitzges’ good nature. My wife and I had the memorable experience of being invited to his 60th birthday party in his home. I brought my world famous shrimp dip and got to chat with people like the late, great Pat Summerall. Even with his air conditioning not really working on a hot day, we all had a wonderful time.Thank you, Norm, for bringing your terrific insight to us folks who enjoy sports. Many blessings, my friend!— I appreciate Dave Lieber and his columns on electric utility rates.
