Following the tragic demise of Liam Payne at the age of 31, fans of the One Direction star are calling for a new law to be brought in. A new petition, labelled 'Liam's law', has been created in the wake of his death in a bid to help protect celebrities and their mental health.
The petition, which has already received more than 100,000 signatures, calls for the entertainment industry to provide more support for those in the art and spotlight. The devoted fan who launched the petition highlighted Liam's own calls for a better support system for young artists navigating the pressures of fame.
"The Government is committed to recruiting 8,500 mental health workers to provide faster treatment." With the petition obtaining over 100,000 signatures, it can now be debated in the Commons. They continued, highlighting the need for change: "In recent news of Liam Payne's tragic death as many others, the entertainment industry needs to be held accountable and be responsible to the welfare of their artists. We seek to implore lawmakers to create legislation safeguarding the mental health of artists within the industry", reports the Mirror.
