The court heard how Mansbridge, of Lodge Street, Monsall started the job at Lidl back in March according to prosecutor Tess Kenyon. The court heard how Mansbridge stole the money over time by ‘voiding’ receipts when she was given the correct change by customers.Defence solicitor Wajid Manzoor told the court that she stole the money in order to pay back debts that she had accrued due to the ‘actions’ of her sister who had taken loans out in her name.
The court heard how Mansbridge, who now has a new job, has been working up to five days a week to manage and pay back her debts with the help of her mother. Mr Manzoor also told the court that Mansbridge now understands that stealing ‘was not the right way to pay off debt and that she told her former employer that she was willing to pay the money back.
Mansbridge who pleaded guilty was given a 12 month community order by magistrates which includes 40 hours unpaid work. She has also been ordered to pay back £829.87.
