Pep Lijnders opens up on Ben Doak hopes, Mohamed Salah role and Liverpool's long-term squad plan ahead of Leicester City clash
Pep Lijnders has urged Ben Doak to continue listening to his more experienced Liverpool colleagues ahead of a potential start against Leicester on Wednesday.
"He's young, so a lot of things can happen but I had the privilege of growing up in Holland, so we had the culture of Johan Cruyff. We always said the most special players we have and the way we want to play was this idea of wingers on the outside, who can create, can really use this one-v-one, who can disorganise the opposition with speed," Lijnders said.
"He has this low centre of gravity where he can control the ball at the highest speed with his left and right foot, so he is an interesting player. He needs to mature and listen to Robbo, Mo Salah, Jota, Gakpo, Diaz, he needs to listen to all these guys. I think we, as a club, for young players it's really nice for them to be in our squad.
Lijnders added: "I spoke yesterday with Mo and he is breaking record after record, a very very special player on our hands. He is a mentor, a leader.
