Lincoln High head coach David Dunn has dubbed a nickname for his physical, frenetic, warp-speed defense.“They want to feel you give up,” said Dunn. “Not see it. They want to feel it.”Come tonight at Saddleback College, Lincoln will try to win the storied program’s first state championship when it takes on renowned Concord De La Salle .
“Three boys in a one-bedroom apartment. We’ve lived in some tight spaces,” he said. “Me and my mom, we’ve been through some tough situations. I want to give back to her what she has given to me all these years. My mom is my best friend. I can’t explain it. She’s my best friend. We can talk about anything.”
Cox sees limited reps at wide receiver. But he showed supreme confidence before the play, telling a Carlsbad cornerback, “It’s about to be a long night for you, buddy.”Lincoln rallied to win 28-24. “He doesn’t want to hit you,” said Dunn. “He doesn’t want to tackle you. He wants to run through you. There’s a difference.”
