James was known as one of the world's greatest actors both on screen and stage. He made his film debut in Dr. Strangelove in 1964 and is known for a number of roles. He notably voiced Darth Vader in the Star Wars franchise and Mufasa, Simba's father, in The Lion King, reports the Mirror. The news of his death has prompted an outpouring of tributes on social media. One person tweeted: "Rest in peace, James Earl Jones. One of the most powerful, evocative, emotional voices in cinema history."
