As is made clear in the video uploaded by Speed Phenom, GM was not interested in letting their drivers truly push the Z06 with passengers present. Instead, the event was largely intended to give folks a small taste of what they can expect from the Z06 on track. That didn’t stop driver Ron Fellows from wringing out the LT6 however, as we get to hear several trips above 8000 rpm in the clip. You can skip to the 7:35 mark of the video to get right into the lapping action, if you so choose.
The LT6 surely doesn't sound like any Chevy V-8 from the past, more closely mirroring the sound of one of Fiorano’s best. In fact, the LT6’s song is about what you’d expect a Ferrari V-8 with a ton of extra displacement to sound like. It’s nowhere as coarse as a typical American V-8, and that classic metallic shearing note of a flat-plane crank shines through. The sound of the downshifts might just be the best part, though it's hard to really choose any specific moment in the rev range.
