A murder investigation is ongoing
. Greater Manchester Police are holding a press conference at Kersal Wetlands, close to where the gruesome discovery was made by a passer-by on Thursday afternoon.
Speaking yesterday Chief Supt Tony Creely said: "At the heart of our investigation is this man and his family. We are using all forensic techniques available to identify him as soon as we can so we are able to support his loved ones during this devastating time."A murder investigation in Salford has entered its fourth day after a man's remains were discovered at Kersal Dale last week.Here are more pictures from the scene on Kersal Dale this afternoon.
"A big part of this is speaking to anyone from the local community who may have useful information. Our main focus at this time is establishing who our victim is because at the heart of this investigation is a family somewhere who have lost a loved one." The horrific discovery was later confirmed to be human remains. Detectives begun a murder investigation as it was 'not possible the victim could have survived'.
