Liverpool have avoided the same pre-match headaches that haunted them after the September international break as they prepare to host Everton
As Liverpool prepare for their third post-international break 12.30pm kick-off of the year, Jurgen Klopp will at least be relieved that preparations have been more organised this month.
“I think 30-odd hours ago, Macca played in Bolivia. Landed yesterday morning at 4 o’clock. Lucho at 9am yesterday. So let’s see where we can pick up from there. Fortunately for the Reds, there has been no late return to England this time around, with all four South American players actually reporting back to training at the AXA Training Centre on Thursday. ‘Better flights’ will have hopefully prevented the issues they had to contend with pre-Wolves.
“We are pretty good at that usually because we have enough opportunities to practise it. This time it was much better so the boys pretty quickly after the games were on a plane and could fly straight to England. That makes a massive difference. In September, Mac Allister completed 85 minutes in Argentina’s 3-0 away victory over Bolivia, and was memorably pictured wearing an oxygen mask after the game. That match took place in La Paz, kicking off at 9pm UK time on Tuesday 12 September with the Bolivian time difference five hours behind.
This week, the winger would play the full 90 minutes for his homeland as they drew 0-0 away in Ecuador. A 12.30am UK time kick-off in Quito on Wednesday 18 October, the time difference is six hours.
