PSV Eindhoven attacker Johan Bakayoko has been mooted as Mohamed Salah's replacement at Liverpool
The 20-year-old Belgian's name emerged when reports in Holland, namely Eindhovens Dagblad writer Rik Elfrink, suggested that he had become subject to an enquiry from Liverpool.
With the transfer window slamming shut on September 1, Klopp will be hoping he has his business wrapped up. Europa League football makes up the calendar for the Reds this season, but Klopp will have his eyes firmly fixed on breaking back into the Champions League, after finishing outside the top four for just the second time during his tenure.
Bakayoko is among the first alternatives to be named as a possible replacement and while Klopp is said to be a fan, club sources have sought to cool links to the youngster, given the range of forward options currently at their manager's disposal. But what would Bakayoko bring? His creative spark has captured the imagination and attention of many already this season and, on Tuesday, his assists for PSV kept them in their UEFA Champions League tie with Rangers after orchestrating Ibrahim Sangare and Luuk de Jong's goals in the 2-2 draw at Ibrox.
