If there are few definitive conclusions to be made as we head into the second international break of the season, it is fair to at least state that Liverpool look like a real team once more.
Of course, things could have been even better had much-debated controversies around red cards and VAR errors not conspired against the Reds but if there is an intrigue over just how high this new-look team's ceiling is at present, they are at least starting to show why optimism is not blind. There are undoubtedly things that need improving, flaws that need ironing out and bad habits to be eradicated but there is a freshness and a spirit to this side that will ensure they are not often on the wrong end of things.
Brighton, buoyed by their goal, started to look the much better team; assured in possession and confident when striding forward. Too many in Liverpool red seemed to cower as the pressure was applied by the hosts.
