Former Liverpool midfielder Vladimir Smicer has urged the Reds to sign Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz this summer. The attacking midfielder has emerged as a standout performer for a Leverkusen side who won the Bundesliga without defeat this season. Wirtz has also become a star for Germany under Xabi Alonso's guidance and Smicer, who won the Champions League with the Reds in 2005, thinks there are similairites with Philippe Coutinho.
I met Arne Slot when Slavia Prague played Feyenoord twice so I saw his work. His system and his mentality is all about being calm. He’s really good. Slot will have to convince his players that his system is the way to move forward. The important thing.
