But the former chancellor’s supporters insisted that he still believes those promising tax cuts are promoting “fairytales”.“I don’t think you can deliver massive tax cuts and very significant expenditure rises, and just borrow the money and don’t think that has any effect on inflation.“And I think the word he used in the debate was ‘fairytales’ and I think that’s what he’s going to stick to.”
