Officials at the local authority have made a recommendation that West Dumbartonshire Councillors give the green light to the £40million holiday resort plans at Loch Lomond.

Those against the development of Flamingo Land's controversial £40million holiday resort at Loch Lomond have reacted furiously after the proposal was backed by council planners.

The Yorkshire theme park operator’s proposals for the beauty spot include a water park, monorail, swimming pool, hotel, eateries and more than 100 lodges. Campaigning Green MSP Ross Greer hit out: “Balloch does not want or need over 100 woodland lodges and almost 400 parking spaces, never mind a waterpark, hotel and monorail scarring one of Scotland’s most iconic landscapes.”

Latest papers submitted by Flamingo Land to the National Park Authority, however, claim their plans are covered by an exception under planning laws because the same site was used to site a railway up until 1986.
