Gloria Hunniford, a veteran broadcaster and star of Loose Women, discusses her husband's life-saving emergency hospital visit. Despite her age, Gloria remains active in the industry and credits her work for keeping her mentally sharp and spirited.
Loose Women star Gloria Hunniford has opened up about her husband's emergency hospital visit , saying it was a life-saving moment.
Gloria broke new ground as the first woman to host a daily show on Radio 2 in 1982, setting the stage for many female broadcasters to come. Her love for the entertainment world remains undiminished. Gloria isn't just a familiar face on television; she's also a dedicated philanthropist. Following the heartbreaking loss of her daughter, Caron Keating, to breast cancer in 2004 at just 41 years old, Gloria, with the support of her sons Paul and Michael, founded The Caron Keating Foundation.
"I would have put my dad in the bracket of being so fit I was absolutely shocked because he was a strong man and very clever, and there he was in a bed with sides up that was more like a cot and he couldn't move down one side and he wasn't speaking very well either." Gloria knew something was seriously wrong and didn't hesitate. "Having known about strokes all my adult life, I told him to lie down on the bed to see if it would pass. But I went into the next room, rang my doctor and he said we needed to go to hospital immediately. A car was waiting to take me to work, so we didn't even call an ambulance. We just went in the car."
