Iconic BBC wildlife TV presenter and naturalist Tony Soper has died at the age of 95, his family has confirmed
Lorraine Kelly has penned an emotional tribute to broadcasting legend Tony Soper, the former BBC wildlife TV presenter and naturalist.
He leaves behind his beloved family, including his wife Hilary, their sons, and five grandchildren. He passed away on September 18.Colleagues and admirers have taken to social media to extend their condolences. Stephen Moss, a revered broadcaster in natural history, said: "Very sad news - Tony Soper, a huge influence on generations of birders and broadcasters, who I had the enormous honour of working with and getting to know, has passed away aged 95.
One fan said: "Sad news, one of my favourite shows growing up was Wildtrack, presented by Tony and Sue Ingle... I still remember the theme tune! ". Another added: "Yes, he was always 'the' nature TV person when I was a child." Tony started his BBC journey as a 17-year0old 'youth-in-training'. Climbing the ranks, he became a features producer for radio before transitioning to TV where he initially worked as the unofficial assistant floor manager on Wild Geese in Winter in 1954. By 1956, he took the reins as producer for the live outdoor programme Look.
