Love Your Weekend star Alan Titchmarsh and Gardeners' World's Monty Don have been the faces of gardening for years, but behind the scenes, their relationship reportedly soured
Settle in for a Sunday with Alan Titchmarsh as there's a double whammy today with new episodes of his show Love Your Weekend, followed by reruns of Gardening Club. But it hasn't always been easy for the gardening guru who was dumped for a TV rival amid a 'secret feud'.
However, whispers suggested that there's been some tension brewing between them for quite some time. Back in the day, Alan was the go-to guy for gardening shows, presenting top BBC programmes including the hit series Ground Force, where he, Charlie Dimmock, and Tommy Walsh would work their magic transforming gardens.
Alan recently spilled the beans about why he recommended Monty for the role during a chat on the BBC Gardeners' World Magazine YouTube channel. He revealed: "I was asked when I left who I would recommend." Alan, a renowned horticulturalist, first presented the Chelsea Flower Show back in 1983 and became a staple for the programme on BBC TV until he felt "squeezed out" in 2013. Reflecting on his departure with the Telegraph at the time, Alan shared: "My decision to step down from presenting next year's BBC Chelsea Flower Show programmes was taken for one reason only: I was not offered the chance to present the breadth of coverage that I had previously undertaken.
