Maybe this was a ploy on Ten Hag’s part, inviting them to play into United’s hands. But it did not look much like a grand plan coming together, more like one almost falling apart — particularly when almost received a second yellow for a challenge on having already been booked. Ten Hag’s half-time changes brought a greater degree of control and composure, and United still produced chances on the counter-attack that should have put Luton to bed.
