National Highways says a large crane fire along the M1 between Junction 30 and 31 is causing long delays.

Pictures show plumes of black smoke being seen from miles around due to the incident, first reported at around 1.30pm on Friday . The Yorkshire division of National Highways has confirmed the road is blocked both ways between Junction 31 for, Nottinghamshire, and Junction 30 for Sheffield. The agency confirmed a crane had caught fire, with pictures showing firefighters at the scene.
