National Highways has issued an update on when the carriageway could reopen
Part of the M621 in Leeds has been closed to allow for emergency repairs to take place on a bridge after it was damaged in a crash.
The bridge, on the A650 near Gildersome, sustained serious damage to its railings following a crash last week. The M621 westbound carriageway, which passes underneath the bridge, is shut this morning as emergency repairs are ongoing. Two-way traffic lights are currently in place on that stretch of road on the A650.
The westbound carriageway between junction 1 of the M621 near Leeds and junction 27 of the M62 has been closed to traffic for safety reasons amid the repairs.There are delays in the area while the temporary repair is taking place, however, National Highways has said it hopes to reopen the carriageway ahead of peak evening traffic on Tuesday .
The two-way traffic lights will remain in place on the A650 while a permanent repair is scheduled and carried out.
