Economy Minister says 'political will' is there to drive expansion of Magee to long-sought target of 10,000 students
A new taskforce to drive the expansion of Ulster University at Magee in Derry to the long-sought target of 10,000 students won't present a report "to sit on a shelf", Economy Minister Conor Murphy has insisted.

Campaigners in Derry have, for decades, called for Magee to expanded to a target of 10,000 students. "That's a commitment that was made by all of the parties, to the executive and by both governments," he said. "This is a whole executive wide commitment, and we expect other ministers, when required, to fit into that commitment. We also wanted to create a group here which would assist all of us, including the city itself, in preparing - which is not simply opening more courses here and bringing in more students.
