A courageous five-year-old girl from Grimsby who was diagnosed with kidney cancer as a baby has just lived her dream of a magical Disney getaway.
From the tender age of one, Clara spent two-and-a-half years in and out of hospital, facing formidable health challenges. Her dad Elliott said they named her new kidney Kevin and that it is all about “keeping Kevin healthy” and focusing on the things that make Clara special. Elliot said: “Clara makes it easier for me as a parent as she handles it so well. She met beloved characters including Woody, Winnie the Pooh, and Frozen’s Anna and Elsa. Despite not watching Star Wars, the Jedi training was among her biggest highlights. “To get through that and to get to a point where she is well enough to enjoy an experience like this, and to see how happy she was, meant a lot and we will remember it forever. I can’t put it into words how special it was.
