Magnolia girls soccer is eager for the postseason after dealing with more than its share...
The playoffs are often referred by coaches as the “third season.” The first is the preseason. The second is the district campaign.Though the Bulldogs went 15-4-1 through the regular season, finishing second in District 21-5A at 10-3-1, it was a bit discombobulated. Magnolia fought starters being out of the lineup early and often. The injury bug bit, and bit hard. There were setbacks against teams the Bulldogs should have beaten.
“At one point, we had two starters in a boot, one moving and Anne-Marie ,” Magnolia coach April Cleveland said. “We had just got done with tournaments, established a new team and culture, and all of a sudden four starters were out. It was a continuous thing of recovering, regrouping and trying to put the puzzle together and figure out what was going to work.”
In midst of building connections with new faces and remodeled lineups, the Bulldogs have battled the burden of expectations.
