This is due to further peaks in water levels being expected along the Trent Valley in the next 24 to 48 hours, which is expected to cause further flooding in communities. The Major Incident has been declared by the Nottinghamshire and Nottingham Local Resilience Forum.
On the City Council website it states: "Record river levels on the River Derwent are likely to lead to further peaks in water levels along the Trent Valley over the next 24 to 48 hours causing further risk of flooding in communities along the Trent Valley. This will likely lead to risk of flooding to properties and roads.
"Local partners are working together to provide emergency support and help where needed and are urging the public to stay safe and help keep the level of disruption to a minimum."The road is currently blocked due to flooding and drivers are advised not to drive through standing waterFlooding has led to the closure of a number of major roads, with heavy rain due to continue throughout the dayDancing on IceResidents were evacuated as they were severely hit by flooding.
