The incident happened at around 12.10am today (Saturday) when officers were called to reports of a injured 21-year-old man in the West Blackhall Street area of the town.
A young man has been rushed to hospital in a serious condition following an attempted murder in Greenock.
He was rushed to hospital where police say he remains in a serious condition. West Blackhall Street at Jamaica Street in Greenock remains closed while enquiries are carried out. Detective Inspector Euan McMillan said: “We are looking for any witnesses who had been in the area around the time of this incident to contact police.
