Fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze
A 46-year-old man is due to appear in court today charged with causing a house fire in Northampton on Monday afternoon. He is also charged with carrying a knife in public afterwards.
Muhammad Farrukh Saleem, of Wellingborough Road, Northampton, is charged with arson with intent to endanger life. He also facing two counts of possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place. Emergency services received reports of a property in Northampton town centre on fire shortly after 3pm on Monday, November 14. Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service and Northamptonshire Police attended the scene.The property on Kingsley Park Terrace was found in flames and fire crews worked to extinguish the fire. A number of people were evacuated from the property safely.
Northants Police announced on Monday evening that a 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson a short time later. Saleem will appear at Northampton Magistrates’ Court today after being charged with the three offences.
