A man was arrested last week after he was accused of stabbing his pet cat to death in Howell, authorities said.
Officers from the Howell Township Police Department were called a home on March 31 for an unrelated matter and found the body of the cat outside, according to a statement from the. The original reason for police being called to the house was not released. An investigation was launched by the department and the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Humane Law Enforcement Division and the agencies said the cat, named Lillith, was a pet of the 29-year-old man who lived there.The man was arrested later that day and charged with third-degree animal cruelty by unnecessarily or cruelly abusing a living animal, resulting in its death, investigators said.
