The Seat subsequently crashed into two police cars, causing minor injuries to the officers before it finally came to a stop on the Antrim Road

A North Belfast man has admitted driving a stolen car into two police vehicles after hurtling over a stinger device during a high-speed pursuit.

He pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated vehicle taking causing injury and damage, dangerous driving, no insurance and assault on police. Saying the offences were "very serious'', Belfast Recorder Judge Patricia Smyth ordered a pre-sentence report and said she would sentence Vokes in October this year. But at a hearing last year, Belfast Magistrates' Court heard that a PSNI patrol spotted a stolen Seat Ibiza with fogged up windows travelling along the Shore Road in north Belfast in the early hours of October 7, 2022.

A district judge heard police lost sight of the car after making numerous attempts to bring it to a halt.
