The resident flagged down police officers on patrol in the Divis area
A man was arrested on suspicion of burglary after being caught "rifling through prescription medication" in a house in West Belfast.
On Saturday, October 21, police officers from Woodbourne Local and Neighbourhood Policing were carrying out patrols with the aim of tackling drug use in West Belfast. The officers were flagged down by a resident in the Divis area, who informed police he was woken by the sound of someone forcing entry to his property, expressing concerns that the individual was still inside.In a post on the Police West Belfast social media page, the PSNI said officers entered the property and "swiftly apprehended a male who was observed rifling through prescription medication within the kitchen.
The 34-year-old man was arrested and charged with burglary with intent to steal, following a report of a burglary in the Servia Street area. Police confirmed he is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court on Friday, November 17.Police added: "If you have any information about suspected drug dealing in your area, call us on 101 or report online at www.psni.police.uk/makeareport.
