Manchester City season ticket prices will increase again next season after supporters were emailed with renewal details
Emails have gone out to members of the club on Tuesday morning to inform them of how much their seat will cost to renew along with details of how they can. Some have gone up more steeply than others but there is an overall rise if supporters want to keep watching City at the Etihad.
The move comes despite the club setting a new British record for revenue in their report for last season and seeing their profits almost double up to £80.4m. Another rise is expected this year after a number of sponsorship deals have been renegotiated and renewed.READ MORE: City injury news and return dates ahead of Arsenal
The average rise is said to be in line with inflation, and follows a number of other Premier League clubs who have already announced they are increasing season ticket prices; nobody in the top division has announced a freeze. It is also in line with City's own policy, where prices have gone up almost every year over the last decade.
City's matchday revenue is relatively small compared to clubs such as Liverpool, Tottenham, United and Arsenal due to a number of factors, including the number of season tickets and the prices. It is expected to increase significantly when the North Stand is expanded to include another 6,000 seats. However, the club are still asking loyal fans to shell out more money if they want to keep their ticket for next season watching Pep Guardiola's side at a time when the cost of living has increased significantly and more people are finding it harder to pay their bills and maintain their lifestyle.
