Flight tracking websites show the plane made an unscheduled landing in Cologne at about 2.30pm on 16 September before it continued to Liverpool at about 10.
Aviation website Airlive reported that the pilots made the request to divert after the male passenger was found to be suffering from a cardiac arrest. He was treated by members of the crew and two medically trained passengers, Airlive said, but did not survive.
