Officers' actions will be reviewed - as is mandatory when someone dies following contact with police.
The Metropolitan Police has referred itself to the police watchdog after a man being pursued by officers died on the tracks at a Tube station in north London. The force said it was called to Colindale station at about 1am on Sunday to reports of criminal damage and a fight. The man entered the station when police arrived and ran on to the tracks after officers followed and tried to detain him. It was then that he was fatally injured, the Met said.
'This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the family of the man who very sadly lost his life,' said Superintendent Lorraine Busby-McVey. 'We are in close contact with our colleagues at BTP who are providing specialist support to his loved ones. We will continue to help them in any way we can.
