A 21-year-old man from Campbeltown, Argyll & Bute, named Gregor Campbell, is facing a potential jail sentence after being caught attempting to smuggle nearly £100,000 worth of cannabis into Scotland at Glasgow Airport on March 11, 2022. Procurator fiscal depute Abigail McKenna informed Paisley Sheriff Court that Campbell had traveled from Bangkok, Thailand, to Glasgow via Dubai. The cannabis weighed 24 kilograms and had an estimated street value of £92,000.
Campbell pleaded guilty to being involved in the supply of cannabis. Sheriff Thomas Ward emphasized the seriousness of the offense, stating that Campbell was involved in the supply of a significant quantity of drugs. As Campbell has no prior criminal record, Sheriff Ward ordered the preparation of a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty order assessment before sentencing. Campbell's bail was continued pending the outcome of these reports.
