Man killed in Harris County when black truck, deputy's patrol car run him over
A man died late Monday after multiple vehicles, including one sheriff’s deputy patrol car, struck him on a road in northeast Harris County, officials said.
Investigators were searching for the driver of a black truck in connection with the fatal auto-pedestrian crash, Maj. Susan Cotter, of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, told On Scene reporters.Witnesses told deputies around 11:45 p.m. a black truck had been heading east in the 14000 block of Wallisville Road when it struck a pedestrian standing in the road, Cotter said. The truck then fled east.
A few minutes later, a deputy was leaving work on that stretch of road and witnesses began flagging the official down by waving and using lights to get their attention, Cotter said. The deputy didn’t notice the man lying on the ground and struck him.
