A Hindu student was left horrified after discovering bacon in his supposedly vegan burger from Burger King. Anshuman Shastry, who is a lifelong vegetarian due to religious reasons, ordered two vegan Royales and chilli jam halloumi burgers through Just Eat. Upon biting into one of the burgers, he spat it out immediately upon finding bacon, which is not listed as an ingredient in the menu. Burger King has apologized and pledged to investigate the incident and re-train staff.
A man said he was left "disgusted" after discovering bacon in his Burger King order. Anshuman Shastry had ordered through Just Eat and spent more than £30 on chilli jam halloumi burgers and two vegan Royales.
"It was disgusting. I didn't even eat the rest of the order. I was really sad and it's all I thought about for the next two days. It's been weeks and I can still feel the taste on my tongue."Upon inspecting his meal further, the Chester University student, who is a lifelong vegetarian due to his religious beliefs, discovered bacon in his supposedly meat-free burger, leaving him "devastated".
Anshuman, who lives in Birkenhead, Wirral, expressed his dismay, stating: "I've been a vegetarian all my life so it was devastating for me. I do it for religious reasons and I make sure I don't even touch eggs as well. It was so disappointing and I was really let down.." Just Eat refunded some of the money for the order to Anshuman. A Just Eat spokesperson said as it is an online marketplace, the responsibility for the issue lies with the restaurant partner.
