A man was arrested after he allegedly trying to stab a United Airlines flight attendant in the neck and attempted to open an emergency exit door midflight from LAX to Boston.

Charging documents revealed Torres allegedly got out of his seat and threw himself in the direction of one of the fight attendants in a stabbing motion with a broken metal spoon, hitting the flight attendant on the neck three times, authorities said. He was taken into custody once the plane arrived in Boston.
Witnesses later told authorities that Torres had asked a fellow passenger where on the safety card it showed where the door handle was located and that Torres was seen pacing in a galley before allegedly attacking the flight attendant. Torres is charged with one count of interference and attempted interference with flight crew members and attendants using a dangerous weapon. If convicted, he faces a sentence of up to life in prison, up to five years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. All the news you need to know, every day
