Man ordered to stand trial in fatal shooting along rural road in East County [Breaking]
A man accused of fatally shooting a 59-year-old man on the side of a road in a sparsely populated area south of Rancho San Diego was ordered Friday to stand trial on charges including murder.for Adrian Carranza, 44, who was also charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the death of Ronald McKinney.
Prosecutors say an acquaintance instructed Carranza to kill McKinney because she believed McKinney and his business partner stole drugs from her. Authorities say hikers found McKinney’s body along an embankment on the side of Millar Ranch Road around 7 a.m. on Jan. 23, 2022. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the lower, left side of his abdomen.A detective said investigators learned that a vehicle McKinned had driven was towed from Marquez’s apartment building the morning his body was found. It turned out Marquez was the subject of an East County gangs task force that involved an informant.
