A man was left stunned when his £30,000 BMW was written off by Manchester Airport valet staff in a car park. Andrew Swindells, 47, had handed over the keys to his BMW One Series after paying just under £100 for the airport's 'meet and greet' parking service before flying to the US for work.
Andrew, who bought the car second-hand 12 months ago, said it was left in the car park for weeks because it couldn't be moved. He also criticised the airport's customer service and compared the situation to 'something out of Only Fools and Horses'. "During the trip I received notifications from the in-car telemetry to tell me it had been involved in an accident. Upon returning, I found the car had been driven into a concrete block, whilst being moved by the airport driver."
Andrew mentioned he finally managed to speak to someone on the phone from America and was informed by the airport that his car had been in an accident, but no further details were provided. "The telemetry said it was being driven between 20 and 30mph at the time. They had to leave it in situ for the insurance assessment. It was up there for weeks."
