John G. Hargreaves, 34, of Belvidere, faces multiple charges including first-degree terrorism, Warren County authorities said.
A New Jersey man is facing terrorism and other charges accusing him of intentionally slamming his SUV through a Warren County town’s police station and into the squad room while blaring Guns N’ Roses “Welcome to the Jungle,” authorities said Friday.
John G. Hargreaves, 34, of Belvidere, appeared to be celebrating by playing the song from the band’s “Appetite for Destruction” album as officers at the Independence Township police station arrested him, according to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office. No one was injured in the crash. The police station was Hargreaves second target on the evening of Sept. 20, Prosecutor James Pfeiffer said.
Hargreaves initially rammed his SUV into the garage of a Liberty Township resident with an intent to harass the homeowner, whom he knew, authorities said. There were no injuries in that attack. In addition to first-degree terrorism, he is accused of second-degree causing widespread injury or damage along burglary, criminal mischief, harassment, aggravated assault and weapons offenses.
Hargreaves remains lodged at the Warren County jail, pending a hearing in Warren County Superior Court.Pamela Sroka-Holzmann may be reached atIf you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
