A man in his twenties is in hospital after suffering a serious injury while riding his electric bike.
When the ECHO arrived in Kirkby just after 8pm, a cordon was in place on Simonswood Lane, stretching from County Road as far as Madryn Avenue. Shocked neighbours reported seeing a "load of police" surrounding the young man after he came off his bike. He was reportedly covered in a blanket and treated at the scene, before being taken to hospital. Neighbours said he was on his own when the incident happened and was "carrying a bag of chips". "At around 6.20pm emergency services were called to a report that a rider had clipped a fence and came off his bike on Simonswood Lane."Officers are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances into the incident, but believe no other vehicle is involved at this stage.
