Manchester United's academy continues to thrive, with a raft of players supporting the first-team squad in recent weeks due to injury, while another glut have had loan spells since January.
Lacey's first professional contract will be announced after he celebrates his birthday on April 14, and the deal is the reward for his excellent and continued progression in the youth set-up. Forson was handed his senior bow a month later and he's since been given a handful of opportunities by Erik ten Hag, who started him against Fulham in the Premier League. The forward is out of contract at the end of the season and although sources indicated he was expected to sign a new deal, talks stalled and he could leave the club this summer.
The ritual, which first happened in 2015/16, sees all homegrown debutants who have been developed at an academy of a club in the English football pyramid for three years or more prior to their 21st birthday receive the memento. United’s director of academy Nick Cox and technical director Darren Fletcher presented the items to the pair at the Carrington training ground.
