Tom is trying to track down photographs and family members of men who died in WWII
A dad is trying to track down the families of WWII veterans after tending to their graves. Tom van Mierlo, is a member of the Venray War Cemetery board in Holland and, with a group of volunteers, he tends to the graves of 693 servicemen who gave their lives in the war.
Tom told the ECHO: “Our main goal is to keep the memories of the men who died in Venray alive. We try to do that by searching for photos and if we find them they are put in a frame next to the grave on special occasions. Second we try to document their stories, who they are, where they are from, and how they got killed in the war. Then we try to get in contact with surviving relatives of those men.
