Police said the man entered a house in Dauphin County with a rifle at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.
A midstate man is behind bars Wednesday evening in New Jersey.
Police say Allen Vasquez, 20, of the 7800 block of Clearfield Street in Swatara Township entered a residence in the 7600 block of Clearfield Street at 4:30 a.m. armed with a rifle. During this burglary Vasquez took personal property and keys to a vehicle that was parked outside before stealing it, police said.
Swatara Township Police said they later learned that Vasquez was involved in a crash with the stolen vehicle in New Jersey several hours after committing the burglary.Vasquez was taken into custody by the New Jersey State Police after they confirmed that the vehicle was stolen. A search of the vehicle recovered the rifle that was used in the burglary and property taken from the residence in the 7600 block of Clearfield Street, police said.In addition, Swatara Township filed burglary, theft of motor vehicle, and loitering and prowling at night charges against Vasquez and will be making arrangements with the New Jersey State Police to extradite Vasquez back to Pennsylvania.kplatt@swatarapolice.
